Celebrating Dr. King
On Monday, Jan. 17, Envision Healthcare will join the nation in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day by honoring the life and legacy of one of the greatest figures in American history. Observing this important day as an official company holiday reflects our deep commitment to the values to which Dr. King dedicated his life.
We’ve come a long way since the civil rights movement. And we have a long way to go to achieve Dr. King’s dream. Although he helped secure voting rights for Black people, our law makers are still grappling with issues of voter suppression. While Dr. King stood for equality and justice for all people, opportunity is still not equal for all races.
As our offices are closed Monday, I hope you will consider honoring Dr. King’s legacy by using your time and talents to serve those in your community. The words he spoke 65 years ago are still as relevant today: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
However you choose to spend Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I encourage you to seek out ways you can Care Deeply, because each of us has the power to positively impact people’s lives through empathy, compassion and respect for all.
